Here Are The Herons!   2022 Preseason Has Started!  After what has felt like forever, yet has only been a tad over 2 months, Inter Miami has returned to the training grounds in preparation for the 2022 MLS Season! Inter Miami kicked off the year with a livestreamed training session, which included interviews with head coach Phil Neville, sporting director Chris Henderson, and saw Henderson, Neville, and Gonzalo Higuain answer questions from the media. Let's take a look at what we learned today, announcements from the past week, and announcements that are still to come. Neville and Henderson Lay Out Their Vision Chris Henderson and Phil Neville both laid out their vision for the club in 2022 and beyond during their interviews and press conference during today's livestreamed event. The biggest take away from their comments on the squad for the 2022 season and beyond is: Younger, More Athletic/Physical, Faster, and Hungry. It was made VERY clear by Neville's comments that this...

Let's Take a Look at Miami's Options with the 9th Overall Pick in Tomorrow's SuperDraft Tomorrow marks the last major MLS off-season event before the start of the season on February 26th - the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, where MLS clubs have the chance to select up-and-coming talent from colleges across the United States. In this year's draft, Miami holds the 9th overall pick in the 1st round of the draft and will be looking for young up-and-coming talent to strengthen the squad in 2022 and beyond.  First, let's take a look at Inter Miami's selections in the prior 2 SuperDrafts the club has selected in: 2021 1st Round, 10th Overall: Josh Penn (No Longer with the Club) 1st Round, 26th Overall: Aime Mabika (A likely starter in 2022) 2nd Round, 37th Overall: Joe Hafferty (Traded to Seattle in March 2021) 2020 (The Painful Daryl Dike draft) 1st Round, 1st Overall: Robbie Robinson (Starting LW in 2022) 1st Round, 3rd Overall: Dylan Nealis (Traded to Nashville in March 202...

A Look at Where We Stand - Part 2 - Arrivals

Image
Let's Take a Look at Where We Stand - Part 2 - Arrivals Yesterday in the inaugural Inter Miami Traveler Report, we took a look at where Inter Miami stands so far this offseason with all the departures that have taken place. Today, we'll take a look at where the club stands with all of the arrivals that have taken place, will take place, or should take place.  (1 quick note - since the publishing of yesterday's piece, Christian Makoun has been traded to Charlotte FC for the Number 1 spot in the allocation order. Let this be a lesson - don't publish your departures piece before you get official confirmation whether a move that had been in the works was completed or not. Yeah, I jumped the gun on that one.) ANYWAY, let's get onto the arrivals that have already taken place: Via Trade: Bryce Duke, Ariel Lassiter, Mo Adams Via Signing: Jean Mota, Clement Diop, Christopher McVey, Erickson Gallardo, Aime Mabika, Shaan Hundal, Harvey Neville Via Re-Signing: Victor Ulloa, B...

BREAKING: CHRISTIAN MAKOUN DEPARTS VIA TRADE TO CHARLOTTE FC

Image
Inter Miami CF has traded centerback Christian Makoun to Charlotte FC in exchange for the number 1 spot in the MLS allocation order. Source confirms that a corresponding move to replace Makoun with a USMNT player on the allocation list is in the works - hence the reason the trade to Charlotte needed to be completed.  Busy offseason for Inter Miami continues!

A Look at Where We Stand - Part 1 - Departures

Image
Let's Take a Look at Where We Stand - Part 1 - Departures  Above is what will likely be the squad that takes the field on January 16th for training camp.  First thing you'll notice - it looks a LOT different than the squad that finished the 2021 season on November 7th, 2021. 2 Designated Players are gone. Both starting CBs and our starting RB (in a 4 back formation) are gone. A fan favorite is gone (yes, he was my favorite too). Our backup goalie is gone.  Change can be scary. However, change is also necessary. Inter Miami entered the 2021-22 offseason with a tall task - rebuild a flawed squad to fit Neville's system while dealing with a $1.13M decrease in GAM for the 2022 season due to the Matuidi sanctions. In order to achieve this, Chris Henderson and Phil Neville had to get to work - including making some very hard decisions in order to revamp the squad into a (hopefully) contender in 2022.  Let's Look at the Moves that have Already Happened, Will Be Happening, o...

Welcome!

This is different. As most of you know me, I am IMCFTraveller (@IMCFTraveller), a dedicated Inter Miami CF supporter who spent the first 2 seasons travelling to every single Inter Miami match - home and away. However, beginning with the 2022 season, I will no longer be able to travel to every away match (I'll still be at every home match and select away matches). However, with this change, I will now have time to pursue something I've considered for the past few months - a dedicated Inter Miami CF blog where I'll share my thoughts on the squad, matches, and provide reports from the select away matches I make it to this season.  I have a lot planned for this blog - from exclusive reports, to providing post-match reports, to providing reports from away days, to a lot more!  Stay closely tuned as I prepare the first report detailing Inter Miami's moves of the offseason so far, and what lies next.
